Woman Charged With Serious Assault After Pram Attack

A woman who allegedly used a pram to knock an elderly stranger to the ground in a shocking incident in Maryborough, Queensland, has been hit with an additional and more serious charge.

Incident Details

Police allege the incident occurred on Adelaide Street in Maryborough around 9:25 am on Monday. A woman pushing a pram allegedly shoved another woman, causing her to fall to the ground.

CCTV footage captures the moment the pram makes contact with the older woman, sending her sprawling onto the footpath in front of nearby shops. The alleged victim, a 77-year-old Maryborough resident, suffered a sprained wrist.

Charges Upgraded

The 42-year-old suspect was initially charged with committing a public nuisance (violent). However, police have now confirmed that following ongoing investigations, she has been further charged with serious assault.

Police thanked members of the public who came forward with information after the footage circulated widely. “Police would like to thank the community for their assistance,” a spokesperson said.

Court Appearance

The woman has been remanded in custody and is due to face Maryborough Magistrates Court on April 30.

The CCTV footage, which shows the elderly woman falling to the ground after being struck by the pram in the middle of the footpath, has been widely shared on social media and news platforms.
