Brisbane Mom's Lego Collection Raises Over $500K

A Brisbane mother's treasured Lego collection is making headlines after raising more than half a million dollars at an online auction that is still underway.

Massive Collection Goes Under the Hammer

More than 2,000 sets that were collected over more than four decades went up for grabs earlier this month. The auction, hosted by Lloyds Auctions, has already seen bids exceed $500,000, with the final total expected to climb even higher as bidders compete for remaining pieces.

According to Lloyds Auctions, this is one of the biggest private Lego hauls ever put up for sale. The bidding war has been so successful that the owner has now decided to sell additional treasured pieces that have already been built.

Built Sets Now on Offer

Among the newly listed built sets are a replica of Manchester United's home stadium Old Trafford, the Colosseum, the Titanic, and a Mini Cooper. These intricate models have attracted significant interest from enthusiasts worldwide.

“With how successful these results are, there were some more pieces that are now being offered,” said Rachael McCann from Lloyds Auctions. The auction continues to draw attention, with bids rising steadily.

The collection, amassed over 40 years, showcases the owner's dedication and passion for Lego. The auction's success highlights the enduring appeal of these building block kits as both toys and collectibles.

As the auction progresses, the final amount raised is expected to surpass the current half-million-dollar mark, making it a record-breaking sale for a private Lego collection in Australia.
