Qld high school staffer charged with grooming student

A staff member at a Queensland high school has been charged over the alleged grooming of a teenage student. Detectives from the Redcliffe Child Protection and Investigation Unit allege that the man groomed a male teenager between 2020 and 2025 while employed at an educational facility.

School Responds to Allegations

In a letter sent to parents, Murrumba State Secondary College principal Liza Bingham confirmed that the school had “recently learned of an allegation of grooming charges against a staff member.” The letter emphasized that the school takes such allegations very seriously and that the staff member was immediately removed from duty.

The school stated that Queensland Police continue to investigate and assured parents there is “no current threat to students.” However, parents were urged to contact detectives if they have any information relevant to the investigation.

“I understand this letter may raise concerns for parents and support services are available for anyone who may require assistance,” Bingham wrote. “We encourage you to take this opportunity to speak with your children about what to do if they feel uncomfortable about any behaviour and how to report the behaviour.”
