Students were evacuated from a school bus in Dunlop on Monday morning after a mobile phone reportedly caught fire. The incident occurred shortly after 9am on Shoobridge Circuit near Lance Hill Avenue, when smoke began emanating from a phone onboard.
ACT Emergency Services confirmed that all students and other occupants were quickly evacuated. Two students were treated for smoke inhalation but did not require hospital transfer.
The bus operates on a route between Fraser West, Dunlop and Macgregor. High school students from a private school in Florey were aboard at the time, and the phone belonged to one of the students.
ACT Policing was alerted to the incident at 9:30am on Monday. No further details have been released.
