Perth is enduring its coldest morning of the year, with temperatures plummeting to near-freezing levels across the metropolitan area. The city recorded its chilliest June morning in three years, surpassing last year's lows.
Temperature Records Broken
Jandakot registered a near-freezing 0.5C early on Thursday, while Dwellingup and Gingin recorded 0.7C. Perth Airport was slightly warmer at 1.5C, and Middle Swan saw 2.2C. The city centre experienced a particularly brisk morning, with temperatures dropping to 3C at 7:10am, cooler than Wednesday's 3.4C.
The last time the Perth metro area saw a colder June morning was on June 27, 2023, when the temperature hit 0.7C. In comparison, the lowest temperature recorded last June was 3.7C, and in 2024 it was 4.5C.
Other Suburbs and Forecast
Pearce in Bullsbrook recorded 3.3C, while Bickley in the east reached 4.7C. Despite the cold start, a maximum of 17C is forecast for Thursday, only slightly above the lowest daily maximum temperatures for June so far in 2026. The lowest maximum was Tuesday's 15C.
