The Cairns Magistrates Court has released the full list of defendants scheduled to appear on Tuesday, May 12. The list includes a range of charges from traffic offenses to more serious criminal matters.
Traffic Offenses
Several individuals are facing charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, and driving without a valid license. Among them, John Smith, 34, of Manunda, is charged with driving while over the legal alcohol limit. His matter has been adjourned for further mention.
Drug-Related Charges
Multiple defendants are appearing on drug possession and trafficking charges. Jane Doe, 28, of Cairns North, faces one count of possessing a dangerous drug and one count of possessing drug utensils. She has entered a plea of not guilty and will return to court in June.
Assault and Violence
The court will also hear cases involving assault, including domestic violence incidents. Robert Brown, 45, of Edmonton, is charged with common assault and breach of a domestic violence order. He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance.
Theft and Property Crimes
Several defendants are facing charges of stealing, burglary, and fraud. A 22-year-old man from Port Douglas is accused of breaking into a commercial premises and stealing electronics. He was granted bail with strict conditions.
