An Australian Army soldier has tragically lost his life during a parachuting training course at Jervis Bay Airfield, located on the New South Wales south coast.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) confirmed on Tuesday morning that the soldier died on the evening of Monday, May 11. Another Australian Army soldier sustained injuries in the same incident but did not require hospitalisation.
"We request that the privacy of Defence members and families is respected at this time," the ADF said in a statement.
Jervis Bay Airfield is a military aerodrome situated approximately two kilometres south of Jervis Bay Village. The airfield is used for defence training exercises, including parachuting courses.
