Claremont Hotel's $1 Pizza Glitch Goes Viral: Five Pizzas for $5
Claremont Hotel's $1 Pizza Glitch Goes Viral

Lucky diners at the Claremont Hotel scored a serious bargain on Monday night after a mistake on its online menu saw its two-for-one pizza deal selling for just $1.

In a deal that would make 1990s Pizza Hut blush, the Claremont Hotel was dishing out $1 pizzas for about two hours on Monday night before the point-of-sale error was patched up.

The discount went viral online after a receipt was posted showing five large pizzas cost a total of $5 — although some would argue the savings were quickly offset by two pints of Heineken costing $33.40.

It was still a hefty discount on the usual $30 price tag for a pizza, and even better than the usual two-for-one discount deal every Monday.

According to a hotel spokesperson, the incredibly generous but accidental discount only applied through the restaurant’s online ordering system and not via third-party apps such as Uber Eats or DoorDash.

And sadly for those feeling the cost-of-living crisis, that error has already been rectified.

People took to the comments on Reddit to joke about the mistake.

“They are the size of a $1 coin. You want an even smaller pizza, that’ll cost double,” one user said.

“The real tragedy there is pints of Heineken costing more than sixteen entire pizzas,” another added.
