A man has been formally charged in connection with an alleged armed robbery that occurred in the Illawarra region late last year, during which a victim was threatened at knifepoint.

Officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District responded to reports of a robbery on Staff Road in Unanderra, approximately 6.5 kilometres south-east of Wollongong, at around 1pm on November 4, 2025. According to police, two men allegedly forced a 65-year-old man to the ground, then threatened him with a knife in his garage before stealing jewellery, cash, and credit cards. The suspects fled the scene, prompting police to establish a crime scene and launch an investigation under Strike Force Garberta.
Arrest and charges
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 41-year-old man at a residence in Dapto on Tuesday, May 19. He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, as well as aggravated break and enter in company and commit a serious indictable offence. The accused was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before a bail court on Wednesday, May 20.
Police have indicated that investigations are ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out.
