Woman in Life-Threatening Condition Following Gold Coast Truck and Car Collision
A woman is fighting for her life after a horrific crash between a truck and a car occurred at a major intersection on the Gold Coast early Monday morning. Police reported that the incident took place at the intersection of Ferny Ave and Beach Rd in Surfers Paradise around 4.20am.
Details of the Collision and Emergency Response
According to authorities, a sedan was travelling south along Ferny Ave when it collided with a truck at the Beach Rd intersection. The impact of the crash was so severe that it caused the truck to flip onto its side. The female driver of the sedan was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency services.
She sustained significant head injuries and required resuscitation at the scene before being transported to hospital in a life-threatening condition. In contrast, the male truck driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Major Traffic Disruptions and Public Appeals
The crash has led to significant traffic delays in the area. All northbound lanes, as well as turning lanes in all directions, are currently blocked, while southbound access is reduced to just one lane. Drivers are being strongly urged to avoid the area, as the scene is expected to remain blocked off for several hours while investigations continue.
Police have also made a public appeal for information, asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has any relevant details to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
