Perth Braces for Thursday Thunderstorm Ahead of Winter Showers
Perth Braces for Thursday Thunderstorm as Winter Approaches

Perth locals are being advised to prepare for wet weather as a thunderstorm is forecast to hit the city on Thursday, ahead of a wave of showers expected next week. The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a cold front will pass over the region, bringing the chance of storms in the afternoon.

Thursday Thunderstorm Expected

Senior meteorologist Illana Cherny stated that the cold front moving through the south-west land division on Thursday would likely trigger thunderstorms in the afternoon. However, she noted that it is not expected to be a severe storm. "At this stage, it looks more like showers and a run-of-the-mill storm, not looking like we're going to see particularly heavy rainfall," she said.

Weekend Weather Outlook

For those participating in the HBF Run for a Reason on Sunday, the skies are expected to clear up over the weekend. "After tomorrow, looking at the forecast, we return to dry conditions, a little bit cooler in the wake of that front," Ms Cherny explained. "So Friday mostly sunny 19C, Saturday 19C as well, and Sunday 22C."
