Perth's own pop sensation Jordan Anthony is making a triumphant return home for a major concert, fresh from chasing his dreams in Los Angeles. The 21-year-old singer, who captured national attention with his run on American Idol, will headline a special all-ages gig at the Rosemount Hotel on January 15.
From Perth Suburbs to Hollywood Dreams
Just over a year ago, Jordan Anthony packed his life in Perth's northern suburbs and moved to Los Angeles, determined to build a career in music. His gamble paid off spectacularly when he earned a spot in the top 14 on the iconic US talent show American Idol, performing for judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
Anthony describes the Idol experience as surreal and transformative. "It was crazy for me, being an Aussie kid from Perth, going out there to pursue my dream," he said. The show not only provided a massive platform but also helped him forge vital connections in the competitive US industry, leading to friendships with artists like Alex Warren and encounters with stars such as Teddy Swims.
The Big Homecoming Show
The upcoming January concert is set to be a celebration and a farewell of sorts. Anthony has billed it as his last major Perth performance with his band before he returns to his base in LA next year. "I’m super excited because it’s actually probably going to be my biggest show that I’ve done in Perth," Anthony revealed. "It’s kind of everyone’s last chance to see me perform with the band before I head off."
Fans can expect a dynamic setlist featuring his own hits like Reckless, Tell Me, and the viral collaboration Cherry. In a special treat, he will also debut a brand new song live on the night. He will be joined on stage by friends and fellow musicians Jack Hamilton and Jacinta Jean, with support from WA Academy of Performing Arts graduates.
Life in LA and Future Plans
Now calling Los Angeles home, Anthony reflects on the stark contrast between his laid-back Perth upbringing and the fast-paced chase of the American music industry. "I love the chase and working hard in pursuit of something," he said, acknowledging he still has "pinch-me moments" about his journey.
His hard work is translating into growing success, with over 55,000 social media followers and more than 9,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His latest single, Hurt Me Sooner, continues to build his profile. Looking ahead, Anthony is focused on writing and recording, with plans to release an EP inspired by his experiences of family, heartbreak, and moving across the world. He also aims to tour the United States in 2026.
The January 15 show at the Rosemount Hotel begins at 6:30pm, marking a significant homecoming for one of Western Australia's most promising musical exports.
