The newest champion of Dancing with the Stars US, Robert Irwin, has given his heartfelt approval to a teenage Chris Hemsworth's impersonation of his legendary father, the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.
Buried Vision Surfaces in New Documentary
The hilarious clip was recently unearthed in a trailer for the actor's new Disney+ film, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember. The documentary primarily focuses on Hemsworth's father and his battle with dementia.
In the dusty home vision, a 42-year-old Hemsworth watches alongside his parents as his teenage self wrestles with his pet dog. Jokingly renaming the dog the 'Siberian Tiger Australian Fox,' the young Hemsworth perfectly mimics Steve Irwin's iconic voice, energetic movements, and signature khaki uniform.
"My first self-appointed, unofficial acting gig," Hemsworth said of the footage. "I drew inspiration from one of my heroes, the Crocodile Hunter himself. Thanks for getting me my highest grade ever in school, a C-?"
Irwin Family Seal of Approval
After the clip was posted on Instagram, it didn't take long for a famous member of the Irwin family to weigh in. Robert Irwin, Steve's son, left a comment that resonated with fans.
"I reckon Dad would've been stoked ?," Robert wrote, giving the impression his iconic father's unofficial seal of approval.
The praise didn't stop there. Steve's widow, Terri Irwin, also added her own comment, writing, "Chris, you are truly a Wildlife Warrior."
A Winning Week for Robert Irwin
The family endorsement comes during a triumphant period for Robert Irwin. The multi-faceted performer and conservationist has just been crowned the winner of Dancing with the Stars US.
This victory sees Robert following in the footsteps of his older sister, Bindi Irwin, who won the same competition's crown back in 2015. It also continues the legacy of his father, who was a passionate champion for nature until his final day.
The team from Dancing with the Stars US, which Robert described as "obsessed" with the old clip, also gave the teenage Hemsworth's performance top marks.
