A 41-year-old mother of five is fighting for her life after being struck by a car while riding an e-scooter in Melbourne's west, with the driver fleeing the scene.
Incident Details
Tania Kerr was turning from Scott Street onto Swan Street in Melton around 12:20 am on Sunday when she was hit by a small white sedan. The vehicle did not stop, leaving Kerr with serious head injuries.
Nearby residents rushed to help Kerr, who was later taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and placed into an induced coma.
Vehicle Description
Police believe the car may have been a Toyota Camry, possibly operating as a ride-share vehicle. Investigators are examining debris left at the scene, including a shoe, to aid their inquiry.
Police Appeal
Victoria Police Sergeant Emile Caggiati condemned the driver's actions, stating, "That behaviour is just deplorable." He urged the driver to come forward: "Once you've realised that you've done the wrong thing, just make contact with police and we'll work through it."
Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
