P-plate driver sought over Illawarra motorcycle theft spree across five suburbs
Police seek P-plate driver over Illawarra motorbike thefts

Police in New South Wales are appealing to the public for help to identify a driver they believe could be crucial to solving a string of motorbike thefts across the Illawarra region.

Crime Spree Targets Homes and Businesses

The thefts have allegedly targeted both residential and commercial properties in a crime spree spanning several months. Between October 2025 and January 2026, motorcycles were stolen from five separate suburbs: Warilla, Mount Warrigal, Shell Cove, Albion Park, and Dapto.

In response to the break-and-enter offences, officers from the Lake Illawarra Police Proactive Crime Team established Strike Force Haskell in October last year to investigate the incidents.

CCTV Clue: Silver Hatchback with P-Plates

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, investigators took a significant step by releasing two images captured on CCTV. The pictures show a vehicle police are urgently trying to trace.

A NSW Police spokesperson described the car of interest as a silver hatchback displaying yellow number plates and a green P-plate. Authorities have stated they wish to speak with either the driver or the owner of this vehicle, as they may hold information vital to the ongoing investigation.

Public Appeal for Information

Police are now calling on the community for assistance. Anyone who recognises the vehicle or has any information about the motorcycle thefts is strongly urged to contact investigators.

Information can be provided directly to the Lake Illawarra Police District on 4232 5599. Alternatively, individuals can choose to provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The public's help is considered key to progressing the Strike Force Haskell investigation and putting a stop to the series of thefts.
