A striking contemporary family home in the sought-after Canberra suburb of O'Connor has sold for a multimillion-dollar sum that dramatically outpaces the local market average. The sale underscores the premium buyers are willing to pay for modern, well-located properties in the capital's inner north.
A Premium Price in a High-Demand Suburb
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom residence at 2 Faunce Crescent changed hands for $3.07 million on Saturday, January 17, 2026. This result is particularly notable when compared to suburb data. According to figures from property analytics firm Cotality, the average house price in O'Connor sits at $1.63 million, making this sale price nearly double the norm.
Selling agent Justin Taylor from Marq Property was not shocked by the strong result. He pointed to O'Connor's enduring popularity. "It's one of the best suburbs in the inner north, it's one of the most popular," Mr Taylor stated. The property attracted around 50 interested groups during the campaign, with the final buyers being a local family upsizing within the same suburb.
Location and Lifestyle Drive Value
The home's prime position was a key factor in its high valuation. Situated at the Civic end of Faunce Crescent, it is within walking distance to Haig Park and the vibrant precinct of Braddon, with Canberra's CBD just a short drive away. "It's close to the O'Connor shops, it's close to the RUC, it's close to ANU, Braddon, the CBD," Mr Taylor explained, also noting the suburb's appeal to families associated with schools like Radford College.
He emphasised that this location promises robust long-term capital growth, a significant draw for investors and owner-occupiers alike.
A Modern Entertainer Stands Out
The property at number 2 is a standout on its street, which is predominantly lined with older brick homes. Built in 2014, the home represents the trend of knockdown-rebuilds that have transformed parts of O'Connor over the past 15 years.
Its contemporary design features include:
- A spacious kitchen with an oversized black Italian marble island and SMEG appliances.
- Open-plan living areas flowing to outdoor spaces via floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors.
- A luxurious main suite with a walk-in robe, dressing room, and en suite.
- Outdoor amenities including a pool, spa, al fresco dining area with a kitchen, and a gym.
With 327 square metres of internal living space and a total of 420 square metres under roofline on a 1000 square metre block, the home offered substantial scale in a highly desirable location.
While the suburb record remains the $4.62 million sale of 10 Miller Street in May 2024, this latest transaction at 2 Faunce Crescent firmly highlights the continued strength and premium attached to top-tier, modern family homes in Canberra's established inner-north suburbs.
