Tradie Survives Brutal Home Invasion, Stabbed Multiple Times, Expresses Gratitude for Life

A tradie who survived a horrific home invasion, sustaining multiple stab wounds and a partially severed nose, has spoken out from his hospital bed, declaring he feels "blessed" to be alive. Lucas Molon, 38, shared a video thanking supporters and recounting the terrifying moment he confronted an alleged intruder inside his Carrara home on the Gold Coast.

Violent Struggle Erupts in Early Morning Attack

Police allege the incident unfolded inside the Plateau Cres residence after Molon and his partner Elisabeth, 46, were awakened by their dogs around 4am on Tuesday and noticed lights on inside the house. "My girlfriend woke me up... I didn't think of anything else, I went after the guy," Molon said. A violent struggle broke out in the loungeroom, with the offender allegedly stabbing Molon up to eight times, causing horrific facial injuries, while Elisabeth was slashed across the chest as she tried to force the intruder out.

Emergency services rushed both victims to hospital, with Molon initially in a life-threatening condition. He remains in a serious but stable state, while his partner has since been discharged. "When I knocked him down... he started stabbing me," Molon recalled. "The first one hit me, but I didn't feel it... he kept going upwards. I only felt it when he hit my nose, he ripped my nose off." He described how blood quickly filled his vision, causing him to stumble outside as the alleged attacker fled.

Police Arrest Suspect Within Hours, Lay Multiple Charges

Less than 12 hours after the attack, police arrested Dimitri Roussos, 18, in relation to the alleged home invasion at a property just 300 metres from Molon's home, where he lives with his parents. Roussos appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, handcuffed and dressed in a blue forensic suit, with his hands in paper bags as he was placed into a police van. An officer was heard saying, "I'm going to place you under arrest for... an attempted murder just down the road on Plateau Crescent."

Roussos has been charged with attempted murder, assault causing bodily harm, and armed robbery. Additional charges include possessing a category M weapon (knuckle dusters), ammunition, entering a home with intent at night, attempting to enter another property, and being in possession of dangerous drugs such as testosterone and cannabis. His lawyer declined to comment on the allegations, stating it was too early in the legal process. Roussos did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody, with the matter due to return to court in June.

Victim Focuses on Recovery and Family Protection

Despite suffering eight stab wounds, including injuries to his lung that he said could have been fatal, Molon remains positive. "I'm alive," he said. "I have no reason to be sad, I have no reason to be angry. Man, I'm blessed." He revealed that the alleged offender dropped his phone while fleeing, which helped officers track him down. Molon faces more surgery after already undergoing reconstructive procedures but is focused on recovery. "From the bottom of my heart... thank you," he expressed. "Fight for your family, protect your family, and be grateful." Police are continuing their investigations into the violent incident.
