In a spirited push to strengthen community ties, Western Force players are actively supporting Perth's grass roots rugby clubs, aiming to drive registrations and fan engagement ahead of the 2026 season. This initiative comes as the local Super Rugby team prepares for an upcoming match that celebrates the vital role of local sports communities.
Community Engagement and Game-Day Excitement
On Tuesday night, 30 Western Force players visited Perth's 11 Premier grade clubs, including Cottesloe Rugby Club and Joondalup Brothers, to assist with training sessions, manage water duties, and even help with barbecue preparations. This hands-on approach is part of a broader effort to foster connections between the professional team and the local rugby community.
Western Force CEO Niamh O'Connor emphasized the importance of this engagement, stating, "It's really critical the Force remains connected with our local club rugby community, who are a huge stakeholder of the club and our game in WA." She added that the Grass Roots game, scheduled before the official premier grade start, is designed to celebrate club contributions and help boost registrations for the upcoming season.
Incentives and Activities for Clubs and Fans
The upcoming Western Force versus New Zealand Chiefs match on Saturday, March 28, at HBF Park will feature special incentives for local clubs. Clubs with the highest member turnout can win one of three Gilberts Rugby vouchers, with the top prize valued at $5,000. Additionally, rugby club members are eligible for a 30 percent discount on silver tickets for the 4:35 pm game.
Game-day festivities will include a lap of honour by last season's Premier grade men's and women's premiership-winning team, Wannerro, and ball kids will wear their club socks to show support. Clubs will also have the opportunity to set up registration stalls inside the grounds to facilitate sign-ups for the 2026 club season in April.

For the first time this Super Rugby season, fans will be welcomed onto the field post-match to interact with players, offering chances for selfies, autographs, and casual conversations. This move aims to enhance the overall fan experience and deepen community bonds.
