The son of former Richmond player and current VFL coach Steve Daffy, Archie has been training with the Tigers' AFL squad and is eligible to be drafted under the father-son rule.
Proving His Worth
Daffy, a medium-sized midfielder, has impressed coaches with his work ethic and skill. He has been a standout in the VFL, averaging 20 disposals and showing a strong two-way game. "I want to earn my spot, not just get it because of my dad," Daffy said. "I've worked hard to get to this point, and I want to prove I belong at the highest level."
The 18-year-old has drawn comparisons to his father, who played 155 games for Richmond, but is keen to create his own identity. "Dad has been a huge help, but I want to be my own player. I've got my own strengths and weaknesses."
Richmond's Interest
Richmond list manager Blair Hartley has confirmed the club is monitoring Daffy closely. "Archie has shown real promise. He's a hard worker and has a good footy IQ. We'll assess him alongside other prospects come draft time."
Under the father-son rule, Richmond can match any bid for Daffy in the draft, but he is not guaranteed a spot. The Tigers have a strong draft hand and may consider other options.
Daffy remains focused on his development. "I'm just trying to get better every day. The rest will take care of itself."
