Geelong have ruined the first part of Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury's party, with the Cats romping to a massive 54-point victory over the Magpies.
Pendlebury joined North Melbourne legend Brent Harvey at the top of the all-time games list with 432, but it was a night to forget for the Magpies. After a tight first half, the Cats blew the game open with a dominant third quarter to celebrate Tom Stewart's 200th game in style.
Geelong kicked eight-straight goals from late in the second quarter to midway through the final term to expose the Magpies, who wasted chance after chance at the other end. Collingwood actually had more inside 50s on the night, but were let down by their skills going forward.
"Lucky this isn't Pendlebury's record game, it's been embarrassing," Anthony Hudson said in commentary.
Ollie Henry enjoyed a night out against his former club with four goals, including a miraculous effort in the final quarter. In an even spread up forward, Shaun Mannagh kicked three, while Shannon Neale, Patrick Dangerfield, Jack Martin and Brad Close all booted two apiece.
Superstar Bailey Smith exploded after half-time to finish with 40 touches, while Max Holmes had 33. Irish tagger Oisin Mullin racked up a career-high 21 touches, while limiting the effect of Nick Daicos, who still had 29 touches but lacked his usual impact.
Pendlebury was among his side's best with 27 touches, while Jordan De Goey was also influential with 30 touches. The 38-year-old will miss next week's clash against Sydney before breaking the record the following week against West Coast. Skipper Darcy Moore will also miss the Swans clash after suffering a concussion.
