A 51-year-old Perth man is facing a series of serious charges after allegedly secretly filming women and a child in public places across the city and being found in possession of child exploitation material.
Alleged offences across multiple suburbs
Western Australia Police allege the man engaged in a pattern of offending between November 2025 and January 2026. The incidents reportedly occurred in the suburbs of Burswood, Ellenbrook, Joondalup, and Perth's CBD.
Investigators claim the man recorded his victims in an "upskirt style", a term used to describe the secretive filming under a person's clothing without their consent or knowledge.
Disturbing discovery on electronic devices
The case took a more serious turn following a forensic examination of the accused man's electronic devices. Police say the analysis uncovered various images and videos classified as child exploitation material.
As a result, the man was charged with several offences, which include:
- Indecent acts in public.
- Indecently recording a child under the age of 13.
Police stress community's right to safety
Detective Inspector Eamon Flanagan addressed the charges, emphasising the violation of public trust and safety. "Everyone has the right to feel safe in the community without being secretly recorded for another person’s sexual gratification," he stated.
Det. Insp. Flanagan also confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and appealed to the public for assistance. "I urge anyone with information relating to this matter to contact Crime Stoppers," he said.
The accused man is scheduled to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday to face the charges.
