A 43-year-old man from Fremantle is set to appear in court today, facing serious charges related to child exploitation material allegedly found in his possession and distributed online.
Police Operation Leads to Arrest
Detectives from the specialised Child Exploitation Operations squad executed a search warrant at the man's Fremantle residence on Monday. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged distribution of child abuse material.
Police allege that at the time of their arrival, the man was actively engaged in online communication with other individuals suspected of involvement in child exploitation offences. He was immediately arrested at the scene.
Devices Seized for Forensic Examination
Following the arrest, investigators seized a number of electronic devices from the property. These items have been taken for a detailed forensic examination by digital experts, which will form a crucial part of the evidence against the accused.
The Fremantle man has been formally charged with two offences: distribution of child exploitation material and possession of child exploitation material.
Court Appearance and Ongoing Investigation
The accused is scheduled to face the Fremantle Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 13 January 2026. The police investigation into this matter remains active and ongoing, with further details expected to emerge as the forensic analysis progresses.
Western Australia Police have reiterated their commitment to combating online child exploitation. They urge anyone with information regarding child sexual abuse, or anyone who has been a victim, to come forward.
