The grim conclusion comes as a renewed police search of the outback area has failed to uncover any new clues about the fate of 41-year-old Trisha Graf.
Hope Turns to Fear as Search Yields No Answers
Trisha Graf, a mother of six, was last seen in the early hours of December 12. Detectives have now officially declared her disappearance a major crime. Officers returned to Andamooka this week in a determined push for answers, gathering in the town centre to piece together the final movements of the beloved mum.
For Graf's family, the prolonged absence has transformed initial hope into a deep-seated fear. "I was in denial but now I know something is wrong — I just want her home," her mother, Anne Graf, told 7NEWS. Her daughter, Montanah Shaw-Graf, echoed the family's conviction that something sinister has occurred. "Something has happened to her and it's just not normal for this to happen," she said. "She would never, ever leave her kids."
The Mysterious Final Hours and an Abandoned Car
The known timeline of Graf's disappearance paints a troubling picture. She left the Roxby Downs Hotel at 12.19am on December 12 in her car, accompanied by a friend. During the journey, her car was damaged in a collision with a kangaroo, but they continued on to visit a home in Andamooka.
Graf then left that house just before 2am to make the short trip to her own home. She was last seen driving on Dunstan Dr in Andamooka. The mystery deepened when her partner discovered her abandoned and damaged car at Blue Dam, approximately 7km from the town.
Her family insists she had no reason to be at that remote location. "He said she never even knew where Blue Dam was," Anne Graf said. "I asked, 'Well, how did the car end up there if she didn't know where it was?' None of it makes sense. I don't believe Trish drove that car there. Someone drove that car there."
A Community Awaits Answers in a Feared Homicide
Police hold grave concerns for Graf's welfare due to the significant length of time she has been missing. They have interviewed the last people to see her before she vanished, including her partner, who investigators confirm is cooperating with the inquiry.
