ACT Policing has launched a public appeal for information following a dangerous driving incident in Canberra that saw a motorist travel on the wrong side of the road, cause a collision, and evade authorities.
Police Seek Witnesses to Reckless Driving Episode
Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the event or possesses dashcam footage to come forward. The incident, which unfolded on the morning of January 28, involved a white Volkswagen Golf with ACT registration AYAC20H.
Sequence of Events in Pialligo and Beyond
According to police reports, the vehicle was first observed speeding along Fairbairn Avenue in the suburb of Pialligo. When directed to stop by officers, the driver failed to comply and instead proceeded towards Queanbeyan. In a dangerous manoeuvre to avoid police, the car crossed onto the incorrect side of the roadway.
The white hatchback was later seen travelling back into the Australian Capital Territory via Canberra Avenue. Alarmingly, it continued to drive on the wrong side of the road, which resulted in a minor collision with another vehicle. The driver then fled the scene, heading in the direction of Manuka.
