Sydney Gym Shooting: Man Escapes Injury After Multiple Shots Fired
Gregory Hills gym shooting: man escapes injury

A man has had a miraculous escape after being targeted in a brazen daylight shooting outside a popular gym in Sydney's southwest.

Shots Fired at Gregory Hills Gym

Police were called to the World Gym on Steer Road in Gregory Hills at approximately 8.35am on Thursday following reports of gunfire. According to authorities, two men, both wearing black clothing and face coverings, opened fire on a man outside the fitness centre. The targeted man managed to flee the scene immediately and, remarkably, there have been no reports of injuries.

Chaotic Scene and Witness Accounts

The incident caused panic in the area. A witness told Ben Fordham on 2GB that staff and customers from nearby businesses, including a Service NSW centre, rushed into back rooms for safety. The witness estimated that the offenders fired around "eight or nine rounds" before fleeing the scene.

Footage from the aftermath showed a significant police presence, with dozens of officers blocking off a section of the shopping mall carpark outside the gym. One man, dressed in athletic gear, was seen speaking with investigators.

Police Hunt for Armed Duo

An image circulated on social media, reportedly from the incident, shows one of the offenders wielding a pistol. The individual is described as dressed entirely in black but notably wearing a high-visibility vest and gloves.

Police have confirmed that both males were armed with firearms and have commenced urgent inquiries into the attack. They are appealing to the public for assistance.

Anyone with information about the Gregory Hills shooting, including dashcam or mobile phone footage, is strongly urged to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
