Police in Perth's northern suburbs are hunting for a driver who sparked a dramatic incident in Balga on Saturday evening after swerving a random breath test and later crashing into two vehicles.
Dramatic Evasion and Crash
The sequence of events began around 6pm on Saturday, 30 November 2025, on Beach Road in the neighbouring suburb of Girrawheen. Officers conducting a routine Random Breath Test (RBT) operation observed a white Ford Mondeo station wagon perform a swift U-turn, deliberately avoiding the police checkpoint.
A short time later, the same vehicle was spotted being driven recklessly and at high speed. The situation escalated when the Mondeo collided with two other vehicles on Mirrabooka Avenue, near the Reid Highway intersection.
Search for Fleeing Driver
Following the collision, the male driver abandoned the station wagon and fled on foot into nearby bushland. An extensive search of the area was launched to locate him, but he remains at large.
A female passenger and two children were found inside the abandoned vehicle. As a precautionary measure, one of the children was transported to Perth Children's Hospital for assessment. Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries were reported among the occupants of the two vehicles that were struck.

WA Police are now appealing to the public for assistance. They are urging anyone with information about the incident, or who may have witnessed the events or captured relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage, to come forward.
