Police Probe Suspicious Death of 36-Year-Old Man in Strathpine Home
Emergency services were called to a property on Nauva Street in Strathpine, approximately 40 minutes north of Brisbane, shortly before 1am on Saturday. Upon arrival, they discovered a 36-year-old man unresponsive inside the home. Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) initially responded to a medical assistance call, but police later confirmed the man was deceased.
Death Treated as Suspicious with No Clear Cause
Detective Inspector Phil Hurst stated that the death is being treated as suspicious, although the circumstances remain unclear. "We don't have an understanding about what caused this death, and we are currently making those investigations to try and establish what has occurred and what led to this death," Hurst said. The home has been declared a crime scene, with forensic officers conducting an extensive examination.
Police noted that there were no obvious injuries to explain the man's death. "There were some minor injuries... but there was no injury that would overtly cause this person to die," Hurst explained. He added that these minor injuries were not significant and their origin is also unexplained. There is no indication a weapon was used, and no evidence suggests links to organised crime.
Witnesses and Investigation Details
The deceased man was understood to be a short-term resident at the property and known to two other occupants, who are assisting police with their inquiries. "There were two witnesses at the address, and they are providing witness versions to help us understand what's going on," Hurst said. Police are relying on medical evidence and autopsies to gain a greater understanding of the cause of death.
The property is expected to remain under guard for a day or two as forensic officers comb through the residence. Police have not ruled out the involvement of other people and are appealing for anyone with information, including dashcam footage, to come forward to aid in the investigation.
