In a significant development for the Catholic community in Western Australia, an Applecross parish priest has been chosen to assist in the religious leadership of the state. Father Nelson Po, who has served as the parish priest of Applecross since 2016, was appointed this month by Pope Leo XIV as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Perth.
A Journey from the Philippines to Perth
Father Nelson Po was born in the Philippines in 1968 and made the move to Perth in 2003 to further his studies for the priesthood. He was ordained as a priest in 2005 and has since dedicated his life to serving various communities across Western Australia.
