A car crashing into a light pole has caused pandemonium for commuters heading home, with traffic heavily banked up on a busy Perth street.

The incident occurred on Leederville Parade eastbound at Loftus Street, where the right lane has been blocked off as emergency and towing services work to clear the chaos. The light pole is down, and a bank-up of cars is snaking back as far as the eye can see during the peak hour rush.
Main Roads WA alerted motorists to the crash at 4:03 pm, advising caution in the area. Commuters are urged to seek alternate routes or expect significant delays.
The cause of the crash is not yet known, and no injuries have been reported at this stage. Towing crews are on site to remove the vehicle and repair the damaged light pole.
