Emergency services rushed to a residential property in Sydney's north-west on Thursday afternoon after a balcony suddenly collapsed, injuring three people.
Emergency Response to Winston Hills Incident
NSW Ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to a home on Rebecca Parade in Winston Hills just after 1pm. They arrived to find two adults and a teenage boy injured from the fall.
Multiple paramedic teams provided immediate treatment at the scene. A woman in her 60s sustained injuries to her neck, head, and shoulder, while a man in his 30s suffered arm injuries. The teenage boy was treated for minor abrasions.
Patients Transported to Hospital
Following on-site treatment, the three patients were transported to hospital for further care. The two adults were taken to Westmead Hospital, and the teenager was transported to The Children's Hospital at Westmead, located within the same precinct.
A spokesperson confirmed that all three patients were in a stable condition. The rescue operation took approximately one hour, with one patient requiring extraction on a stretcher.
Investigation into the Cause
The exact cause of the deck's sudden failure remains unclear. Fire and Rescue NSW personnel worked to secure the area following the collapse.
Authorities have indicated that the structural integrity of the home will be assessed at a later stage as part of the investigation into the incident. Initial reports suggest all three individuals were standing on the deck when it gave way.
