A motorcycle rider has been left in a critical condition following a serious collision with a car in the Hunter Valley on Tuesday evening.
Emergency Response to Weston Crash
Police and paramedics were called to Cessnock Road at Weston, near Kurri Kurri, just before 6pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The response was significant, involving an intensive care paramedic team, a doctor, and an Ambulance aircraft.
At the scene, emergency services found a motorcycle and a Hyundai Kona that had been involved in a collision. The rider, a 47-year-old man, sustained multiple serious injuries to his arms, legs, and chest, according to NSW Ambulance.
Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition
After being assessed and treated at the roadside, the critically injured man was transported by road to John Hunter Hospital. A medical team continued lifesaving care during the journey.
Hunter Valley police later confirmed the man remained in a critical condition. The driver of the Hyundai Kona, a 37-year-old, was taken to Kurri Kurri Hospital for mandatory testing.
Road Closure and Police Appeal
Cessnock Road was closed in both directions for several hours following the crash, with the closure still in effect after 9:30pm Tuesday night.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. They are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information, including dashcam footage, to come forward.
