Leura Welcomes Little Sista: A Retro Cafe with Family Heart and Vinyl Soul
Nestled just off the bustling main street of Leura, a groovy new cafe has emerged where music and family are the essential ingredients. From the family behind the well-known Cafe Leura comes Little Sista, a smaller, hipper establishment that focuses on focaccia, coffee, and vinyl records.
A Cozy Retro Atmosphere
Upon entering Little Sista, you might mistake it for a small bar or a cherished living room. The space features bar stools, custom-made steel benches, and a bespoke vinyl display wall, all exuding a retro cool vibe that invites relaxation and enjoyment.
Handcrafted Focaccia Sandwiches
Each focaccia sandwich is lovingly handmade, using Italian-imported toasters that crisp the bread in just 90 seconds. This quick method ensures meats remain tender and lettuce stays fresh. A crowd favourite, Everything She Wants, lives up to its name with a generous stack of prosciutto, mortadella, sopressa, ham, mozzarella, pesto, sundried tomatoes, and rocket, all neatly packed into one sandwich.
Options for All Dietary Preferences
Gluten-free and vegetarian choices are readily available. For meat lovers, Mama's Meatballs delivers with large, juicy meatballs smothered in cheese. Meanwhile, The Big Veg offers a smoky, tangy alternative with grilled eggplant, mozzarella, roasted peppers, and pickled onions, proving that meat isn't always necessary for a satisfying meal.
Grab-and-Go Desserts and Drinks
If you have a sweet tooth, Little Sista has you covered with canned tiramisu and stone fruit cheesecakes that are playful and portable, perfect for a Blue Mountains bush walk or picnic. Alongside these treats, diners can grab a canned coffee, iced matcha, or freshly squeezed orange juice for a quick pick-me-up.
Prime Location Near Attractions
After picking up your order, all the attractions of the upper mountains are close by. You can easily visit Scenic World in Katoomba, see the iconic Three Sisters, or pop into the Leura candy store located right next door.
Family and Music at the Core
The ethos behind Little Sista is simple and clear: flavour grounded in family and music. Having spent two decades on the Leura food scene with Cafe Leura next door, co-owner Andrew Tsarouhis explains that Little Sista marks an exciting new chapter for the family, with the next generation bringing fresh energy to the space.
Tsarouhis says, "Our kids have grown up in this world and have been hands-on in shaping Little Sista – it feels vibrant and full of life. Everything centres around the focaccia, made fresh and served the way we love to eat it – simple, generous, and made to be shared. You can grab one on the go or stay for the music and great company. It's fresh, it's fun, and it still feels like home."
