Crown Perth is set to transform Western Australia's culinary landscape with the introduction of two Australian-first dining establishments as part of its ambitious Urban Food District development, scheduled to open in early 2026.
International Flavours Head Down Under
The multi-million dollar food precinct will welcome Side Piece Pizza, a Las Vegas-based New York-style pizza joint, and Tekka Bar, a Japanese-inspired hand roll and sake bar, marking their debut on Australian soil. This significant investment represents the largest development at Crown Perth in nearly a decade.
Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira expressed enthusiasm about bringing these unique international concepts to the west coast, confirming that announcements regarding local operators would follow shortly. "We're excited to introduce these outstanding international venues and concepts to Crown Perth, each offering a distinctive experience new to Australia," Mr Pereira stated.
What to Expect from the New Arrivals
Side Piece Pizza, which shares no connection with Side Piece Deli in Swanbourne, will specialise in authentic New York-style pizza slices, positioning itself as an ideal spot for casual gatherings or late-night meals after entertainment sessions.
Meanwhile, Tekka Bar draws inspiration from Japan's historic Tekka Ba gambling district, featuring a curated menu of made-to-order hand rolls complemented by traditional sake selections. Founder Oliver Wharton described the experience: "Customers can watch their handrolls made to order as they sip on a sake. The crisp nori, warm rice and chilled fish make for the perfect bite."
Transforming Perth's Dining Scene
The Urban Food District's strategic location near Optus Stadium and Crown Theatre positions it as a prime meeting spot for friends, families and hotel guests before and after events, with weekend DJs enhancing the vibrant atmosphere.
Andy Masi, Founder and CEO of Clique Hospitality behind Side Piece Pizza's Australian expansion, highlighted the convenience for local pizza enthusiasts: "This gives local pizza lovers a new opportunity to enjoy authentic, New York city-style slices without the long flight."
Currently under construction, the development is already generating employment opportunities with approximately 100 jobs being recruited. The food hub will join previously announced venue Burgers by ES, the rebranded Perth outlet of Los Angeles-founded Eggslut concept.
With additional venues including a wine bar, beer garden, and premium international food hall yet to be revealed, Crown Perth's Urban Food District is poised to become a comprehensive dining destination catering to diverse tastes and occasions when it launches in early 2026.
