A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Reid Highway in Perth has claimed the life of a man and caused significant traffic disruptions, with emergency services responding to a complex scene involving three separate vehicles.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The serious incident occurred at approximately 12:55 PM on Reid Highway in the suburb of Dianella. According to police reports, the collision involved a white Toyota LandCruiser, a white Kia Carnival, and a white Isuzu truck.
Casualties and Injuries
Tragically, the 49-year-old male driver of the Kia Carnival died at the scene from his injuries. His 26-year-old male passenger was transported to Royal Perth Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The 52-year-old male driver of the Toyota LandCruiser was also conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital, while his 12-year-old female passenger was taken to Perth Children's Hospital. Both individuals received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Fortunately, the 47-year-old male driver of the Isuzu truck emerged from the collision without any injuries.
Emergency Response and Traffic Chaos
St John WA dispatched five ambulances to the crash scene as emergency personnel worked diligently to treat the injured and manage the resulting traffic congestion.
Reid Highway westbound was completely closed at Alexander Drive, with authorities warning motorists to avoid the area entirely. Traffic backed up significantly as towing crews remained on site for several hours to clear the wreckage.
Secondary Incident Compounds Problems
Adding to the traffic turmoil, a second crash occurred at approximately 2:25 PM on Reid Highway westbound at Marmion Avenue in Karrinyup. This incident partially blocked the right turning lane before being cleared around 3:25 PM.
