The search for a missing man on the New South Wales Mid North Coast has ended tragically after a body was discovered in local bushland.
Discovery Ends Extensive Search
The 37-year-old man was last seen alive on December 9 in the coastal town of Old Bar, located roughly fifteen minutes east of Taree. He was reportedly spotted on Red Gum Road around 10am on that Saturday morning.
Following his disappearance, a significant search operation was launched involving local police and emergency services. The community held hope as the search continued through the area.
Grim Find Near Last Known Location
That hope was extinguished on Monday afternoon when a body was found. The grim discovery was made about 2pm in bushland just off Old Bar Road, only one street away from where the man was last seen on Red Gum Road.
While the search for the missing person has now been concluded, formal identification procedures are still to be completed. However, authorities have indicated they believe the body is that of the missing 37-year-old.

New South Wales Police confirmed the discovery in a statement. "While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man," a police spokesperson said.
