Liquid I.V. Highlights Global Water Crisis with Bondi Beach Activation on World Water Day
Liquid I.V. Spotlights Water Crisis at Bondi on World Water Day

In a powerful move to spotlight the global water crisis, Liquid I.V. marked World Water Day with a striking activation at Bondi Beach, drawing attention to the stark reality that one in four people worldwide still lack access to clean drinking water. This initiative comes as recent UNICEF data reveals that, despite progress over the past decade, over 2 billion individuals globally remain without safe water, underscoring an urgent need for action.

Symbolic Installation at Bondi Promenade

To highlight the severity of water insecurity, Liquid I.V. installed three 'non-working' water fountains along the Bondi Promenade, symbolically 'turning off the tap'. This installation aimed to prompt passersby seeking fresh water or bottle refills to reflect on the global crisis, where billions face daily challenges in accessing clean water. The design of the fountains featured insights from Liquid I.V.'s 2025 Global Impact Report, encouraging public engagement and education on the issue.

Expert Insights on Water Insecurity

Dr Tim Foster, Associate Professor and Research Director at the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney, emphasized the importance of such initiatives. "Water insecurity is one of the most pressing global challenges today, affecting billions of lives every day," he said. "Initiatives like Liquid I.V.'s Bondi installation are crucial because they bring into view the realities many communities face, helping people understand the scale of the issue and why it matters."

Liquid I.V.'s Commitment to Clean Water Access

Harrison Power, Marketing Manager for Liquid I.V. Australia, outlined the brand's dedication to addressing this crisis. "For us at Liquid I.V., our impact work isn't just an initiative, it's a commitment to action to help expand clean water access globally," he stated. "We are on track to achieve our goal of expanding clean water access for 2 million people by the end of 2026, but with 1 in 4 people lacking access, we know there's a lot more work to be done." The Bondi activation aims to raise awareness and foster collective responsibility among Australians.

Global Impact Program and Future Goals

Through its Global Impact Program, Liquid I.V. allocates 1 percent of company revenue to initiatives like the Clean Water Access Program, which focuses on expanding clean drinking water access worldwide. Since 2021, the brand has supported community-led and systems-change projects, prioritizing sustainable solutions for vulnerable and underserved communities. These efforts contribute to the goal of providing clean water to 2 million people by 2026, as detailed in the 2025 Impact Report, turning awareness into tangible, lasting impact.

On World Water Day and beyond, Liquid I.V. encourages all Australians to learn more about the global water crisis, engage with the issue, and support commitments that make clean water accessible for everyone, highlighting the ongoing need for global cooperation and action.
