Macedonia Park to Host Free Community Festival for 40th Anniversary Celebration
A vibrant free community festival is set to take place at Macedonia Park in Balcatta this weekend, commemorating the venue's 40th anniversary since its official opening in March 1986. The two-day event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22, 2026, aims to honor the rich sporting, cultural, and community legacy that has flourished at the park over the past four decades.
A Tribute to Community and Culture
Established by the Macedonian Community of Western Australia, Macedonia Park has long served as the heart of Perth's Macedonian community, hosting countless sporting and cultural events throughout the years. The park is most notably the home ground of the Stirling Macedonia Football Club, which has become an integral part of the local sporting landscape.
This weekend's festival promises a diverse array of activities and entertainment for all ages. Attendees can look forward to live music, food trucks offering a variety of culinary delights, and football clinics for aspiring players. A special legends game will also be held to pay tribute to past players and contributors who have shaped the club's history.
Family-Friendly Festivities and Schedule
The festival will feature numerous family-friendly activities, including a car show, kids' entertainment, and a relaxed picnic atmosphere in the park. Traditional Macedonian dancing, craft displays, and cultural stalls will showcase the community's heritage and traditions.
Festivities on Saturday will kick off at 11am, with formal proceedings beginning at 4pm. This segment will be a ticketed event leading up to the highly anticipated clash between Stirling Macedonia and Olympic Kingsway. Entry to the game is free for members of the Macedonian Community of WA.
On Sunday, the cultural community day will run from 9.30am to 4pm, highlighting the junior football teams and offering further opportunities for community engagement and celebration.
Club President Reflects on Milestone
Club president Luke Pavlos expressed his excitement about the upcoming celebrations, describing them as one of the club's biggest events to date. "Reaching 40 years at Macedonia Park is a huge milestone for everyone who has been part of the club's journey," he said. "This weekend is about celebrating our history, our culture and, most importantly, bringing the local community together."
Pavlos emphasized the inclusive nature of the event, inviting families, supporters, past players, and new faces to join in the festivities. "We want everyone to come down, enjoy the atmosphere and be part of this special moment," he added.
