Today Show Star Sarah Abo Announces Pregnancy Following Fertility Challenges
Television presenter Sarah Abo has shared the joyful news that she is expecting her first child after experiencing significant difficulties in falling pregnant. The 40-year-old co-host of the Today show described her path to motherhood as "a bit of a bumpy ride" and acknowledged it was an experience "no one ever wants to go through."
Emotional On-Air Announcement
During a live broadcast on Wednesday morning, Abo became emotional while revealing her pregnancy to viewers and her co-host Karl Stefanovic. "I'm going to try and fail to maintain my composure. But yes, Cyrus and I are expecting a little baby," she stated, referring to her husband Cyrus Moran.
The television personality explained that while she is celebrating this happy development, she felt compelled to recognize that her journey had not been straightforward. "It hasn't been the easiest journey to get here, which a lot of people I know have gone through and will go through," Abo remarked.
"It's not as easy as you sometimes think that pregnancy will be," she added, noting that the experience had been challenging but that she was now almost halfway through her pregnancy.
Instagram Post Reveals Mixed Emotions
Following her television announcement, Abo took to Instagram to share the news with her more than 66,000 followers. In her post, she expressed both happiness and apprehension, writing: "Well, I can't keep trying to hide under a rock..! Yes, there is a baby in there. It's our happy news after a bit of a bumpy ride. But I am still pretty terrified!"
Accompanying her message was a photograph showing Abo holding her growing belly. She elaborated on the common yet isolating nature of fertility struggles, stating: "I know this is an experience many have gone through, are going through, and will go through. And one that no one ever wants to go through."
Abo highlighted how society often takes fertility for granted, while for many individuals it involves:
- Dodging glances and questions from others
- Submitting to numerous medical appointments
- Undergoing test after test
- Receiving injection after injection
Advocating for Greater Awareness and Support
The television host expressed her hope that increased discussion about infertility could make it easier for expecting mothers to share their stories. "Hopefully talking about it more, helps," she said, while sending love to others facing similar circumstances.
Abo acknowledged that experiences vary greatly, noting: "I know many have had a much more difficult time of it than us, this is such a varied experience and everyone will feel it differently."
Her central message focused on solidarity, emphasizing: "There's nothing that necessarily makes this road easier, and while it feels so lonely when you're in it, please know that you're absolutely not alone."
Personal Life and Privacy Preferences
Sarah Abo has been married to steel mill trader Cyrus Moran since 2012, and the couple has generally maintained a private personal life away from media scrutiny. Earlier in 2026, Abo explained on Stellar's Something To Talk About podcast why she prefers to keep Moran out of the public eye.
"It's not as though he's hiding. It's just that he's not in the media," she clarified. "For some reason that seems to be hard to understand for some people. It's like no, mate, I've got a weird job and a weird life, but he doesn't."
The pregnancy announcement marks a significant personal milestone for Abo, who has built a successful television career while navigating the challenges of fertility treatment. Her candid discussion about her experiences aims to foster greater understanding and support for individuals facing similar reproductive health journeys.
