Pop sensation Miley Cyrus has candidly shared her thoughts on potentially headlining the Super Bowl halftime show next year, as speculation mounts that she is the current frontrunner for the coveted performance slot. The 33-year-old artist, who is preparing for the release of her Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special on March 24, admitted that while the prospect of performing for millions worldwide is daunting, she believes she could rise to the occasion.
Navigating the Pressure of the Super Bowl Stage
In an interview with Variety, where she graced the cover, Cyrus expressed that the Super Bowl often feels like an overwhelming amount of pressure. She explained that she would need to mentally reframe the event to avoid being intimidated by its massive global audience. "I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure," she said. "I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most-watched thing in the world.’"
However, Cyrus suggested that if she could approach the halftime show similarly to her Hannah Montana anniversary project—by taking a journey through her discography and appreciating each song and era—she might find the confidence to pull it off. "But if I could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary was — taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is — I think I could find it in myself," she added.
Hannah Montana Anniversary Special Details
Fans eagerly awaiting the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special on Disney+ can look forward to a nostalgic experience filled with hit songs like This Is the Life, Best of Both Worlds, and The Climb. The special, which was filmed live in February, includes curated elements designed to delight superfans, such as cameo appearances from fellow Disney child star Selena Gomez and an interview conducted by Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper.
Notably, Cyrus will reunite with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, after a two-year estrangement that began in 2022. The reconciliation was sparked when she wrote a song for him titled Secrets. While Disney recreated sets from the beloved TV show that aired from 2006 to 2011, Cyrus opted not to wear Hannah Montana's iconic blonde wig, instead dying her hair and styling it with bangs for a fresh look.
Acting Ambitions and Personal Life Updates
Beyond music, Cyrus revealed she is "very interested" in returning to acting, with her last screen role being in a 2019 episode of Black Mirror where she played a pop singer. She emphasized the importance of finding the right role, stating, "I just haven’t found the right role for me. I’d want a character that felt like an extension of me. Or something completely different from who I am."
On a personal note, Cyrus got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, musician Maxx Morando, last year, adding to the exciting developments in her life. This combination of professional opportunities and personal milestones highlights a dynamic period for the star as she balances legacy projects with future aspirations.
