Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes is set to headline the return of the Sounds of Rock festival in Townsville, bringing a powerhouse lineup of legendary acts to the city in 2025. The festival, which has been a staple of the North Queensland music scene, will take place at the Townsville Showgrounds on March 22, 2025.

Return to Townsville
The Sounds of Rock festival last took place in 2020 before being paused due to the pandemic. Its return has been eagerly anticipated by local music lovers, who have been craving live events. The festival will also include food stalls, merchandise stands, and family-friendly activities, making it a full-day experience.
Tickets go on sale from November 1, with early bird discounts available for a limited time. Organizers encourage fans to secure their spots early, as previous editions have sold out quickly.
Jimmy Barnes, known for hits like "Working Class Man" and "Khe Sanh," expressed excitement about returning to Townsville. "I love playing in Queensland, and Townsville always has such an amazing crowd. We're going to put on a show to remember," he said.
The festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, highlighting its significance to the local economy and cultural landscape.
