English TV star Janet Montgomery has revealed her heartbreak after becoming a single mother just days after giving birth to her second child in 2025. The 40-year-old actress, known for roles in New Amsterdam and Scarpetta, quietly separated from her husband Joe Fox, whom she married in 2019.
In a candid social media post, Montgomery opened up about her private struggle. 'Last year, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined,' she wrote. 'Just ten days after welcoming my beautiful son into the world, I found myself navigating the heartbreak of becoming a single mother to two children.'
She added: 'There were moments I wasn’t sure how I would make it through the next hour, let alone the next day. Grief, exhaustion, fear, uncertainty, and the overwhelming responsibility of showing up for two little people who needed me no matter what.'
Montgomery's Family and Support
The former couple share daughter Sunday, born months before their 2019 wedding, and son Milo, welcomed in 2025. Montgomery did not specify the reason for the separation or directly mention Fox, though he remains on her social media feed.
She described the period as some of her 'darkest days' and thanked her loyal community for supporting her young family. 'This chapter has tested me more than any other in my life, but it has also shown me the incredible strength that exists in community,' she said. 'Thank you for holding space for our story. Thank you for letting me share it. Thank you for helping me feel a little less alone.'
Life After Separation
Sharing a carousel of photos emblematic of her family’s recent journey, Montgomery offered a glimpse into their life at home, catching up with friends, and finding joy amid the grey. She noted that her healing journey is not linear and that 'we still have hard days ahead of us.'
Fans may recognize Montgomery from her cameo as Beth in season two of British cult favourite Skins, as well as roles in Entourage and Human Target. Her famous friends sent well-wishes upon learning of her ordeal. Film star Jamie Chung wrote, 'We love you sis,' while Netflix actor Ashley Madekwe said, 'Love you forever.' Skins season three cast member Katie Prescott offered a love heart emoji.
Montgomery’s breakup has not affected her professional life; she was recently confirmed to play a central cast member in the drama series The Rookie: North.
