The Kids Research Institute Australia is celebrating a remarkable thirty-five years of pioneering medical research with the launch of an ambitious new public exhibition titled 'Behind the Breakthrough'.
A Celebration of Discovery and Impact
The Institute's 35th-anniversary event was a significant occasion, officially opened by Western Australian Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson. The celebration served to honour the vast network of individuals whose dedication has been instrumental in advancing children's health, including researchers, clinicians, trial participants, donors, and families.
Prominent figures such as Tonya and Malcom McCusker, Naomi Flutter, and Elizabeth Perron were among the distinguished guests in attendance at the milestone event.
Stepping Through the Breakthroughs
The centrepiece of the celebration is the innovative 'Behind the Breakthrough' exhibition. It features eight life-sized doors, each offering a portal into a significant medical advancement. These interactive displays reveal the human stories and scientific questions behind life-changing research across critical areas including autism, rare diseases, cancer, Indigenous health, and RSV.
Public Invited to Explore
This unique exhibition is not confined to the scientific community. The 'Behind the Breakthrough' exhibition is open to the general public at Central Park, providing a rare opportunity for Perth residents and visitors to engage with the groundbreaking work. The exhibition will remain on display until November 21, marking a fitting tribute to thirty-five years of discovery and its profound impact on the lives of children.
