New Footage Shows Horror of Melbourne Shopping Centre Rampage
New footage reveals horror of Melbourne shopping centre rampage

Disturbing new video footage has laid bare the terrifying scenes inside a Melbourne shopping centre when a stolen vehicle tore through the complex, forcing terrified shoppers to run for their lives.

Chaos Captured on Camera

The incident occurred at the Northland Shopping Centre in Preston, Melbourne, around 4pm on June 18. Previously unseen footage, compiled from nine different camera angles, captures the full sequence of the chaotic event.

Shoppers, including young children, can be seen sprinting out of the centre's main entrance mere moments before the allegedly stolen 4WD crashes through the area. The vehicle's violent path was so forceful that it ripped a bollard clean out of the ground as it exited the premises.

Aftermath and Arrest

Following the rampage, the vehicle was found abandoned. The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot but was not at large for long. A 27-year-old man was arrested in East Melbourne the following morning.

Despite the widespread panic and destruction, the physical injuries were remarkably limited. Paramedics assessed two people at the scene; however, neither required transport to hospital for treatment.

Court Proceedings Begin

The accused man has already faced court, where the dramatic footage was presented as evidence. He is now set to stand trial next year on a series of charges relating to the frightening incident at Northland Shopping Centre.

The release of the multi-angle video has provided the public and authorities with a clearer, more comprehensive understanding of the sheer danger posed during the minutes of chaos in Preston.
