Perth's northern suburbs are about to get a major culinary upgrade as Australian burger giant Grill'd prepares to launch Western Australia's very first drive-thru restaurant. The highly anticipated Wanneroo location will officially open its doors this Saturday, bringing a new level of convenience to health-conscious diners across Perth.
A Strategic Expansion for Perth's Growing North
The new Grill'd restaurant, situated at Herdsman Lane in Wanneroo, represents a significant milestone for the popular burger chain. This will mark the 29th Grill'd restaurant in Western Australia and the 176th across the nation, solidifying the brand's expanding footprint. Founder and managing director Simon Crowe emphasized the company's commitment to accessibility, stating the drive-thru format delivers "a new level of convenience for Perth residents."
"We're committed to giving Australians easier access to fresh, healthy burgers made with premium local ingredients," Mr. Crowe explained. "Now WA locals can enjoy that experience with the added convenience of a drive thru."
Community Focus and Grand Opening Celebrations
The choice of Wanneroo was no accident. Grill'd regional general manager for WA, Aimee Edwards, highlighted the area's rapid growth as a key factor. "Wanneroo is one of Perth's fastest-growing communities," she noted. Beyond satisfying burger cravings, the new establishment will provide a substantial economic boost by creating 50 local jobs.
Staying true to its community roots, the Wanneroo Grill'd will participate in the brand's Local Matters program. This initiative supports local sporting clubs, charities, and community groups every month. In its first month, the restaurant will back the Wanneroo Bush Fire Brigade and the Twelve Tone Music Academy.
To celebrate the grand opening on Saturday, 6 December, Grill'd is pulling out all the stops. The first 754 customers will receive free burgers—a tribute to the address of the very first Grill'd store. For those who miss out, $10 burgers will be available to all members of the Grill'd Relish loyalty program. The doors will open at 10am, with the full menu of over 40 items available both in-store and via the drive-thru.
The Drive-Thru Revolution Continues
The Wanneroo outlet becomes the fourth Grill'd drive-thru in Australia, joining existing locations in Brisbane, Geelong, and Melbourne. The chain first ventured into the drive-thru market in 2023, responding directly to customer demand for healthier, convenient meal options on the go.
