Teen's 'post and boast' stunt backfires after filming stolen car pursuit in South Nowra
Teen arrested after filming stolen car chase, posting online

A 17-year-old girl's alleged decision to film herself during a stolen car incident and police chase has led to her arrest and a string of serious charges in South Nowra.

Alleged crime filmed and shared online

The incident began in the early hours of Friday, December 19, 2025. Police allege the teenager stole a car from a driveway on Alpine Place in South Nowra at approximately 4:10 am.

The homeowner was disturbed by the activity and promptly alerted authorities. Just eight minutes later, police spotted the vehicle being driven in the opposite direction on Hillcrest Avenue.

Dangerous pursuit through suburban streets

The situation escalated rapidly when officers located the car on Somerset Avenue. The vehicle had collided with a construction fence, but the drama was far from over.

It is alleged the driver then reversed into the front of the police car. When she failed to stop as directed, a formal police pursuit was initiated through the streets of South Nowra.

The chase came to an end a short time later when the car mounted a kerb on Osprey Road and stopped. The alleged driver, the 17-year-old girl, was arrested at the scene around 4:30 am.

A long list of charges laid

The teenager was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with a total of ten offences. The charges highlight the seriousness of the alleged actions and the modern twist of documenting crime.

The charges include:

  • Two counts of being carried in a conveyance taken without the owner's consent
  • Two counts of filming and disseminating a crime (so-called 'post and boast' offences)
  • Driving dangerously during a police pursuit
  • Being an unaccompanied learner driver
  • Two counts of not giving particulars to the owner of damaged property
  • Failing to give particulars to another driver
  • Entering a vehicle without the owner's consent

She appeared in a Children's Court on the same day, December 19, where she was formally refused bail. She is scheduled to reappear before the Children's Court at a later date.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the severe legal consequences that can follow not only criminal acts but also the decision to broadcast them on social media.
