Somerset at Burswood Point Reaches Construction Milestone

Somerset at Burswood Point Achieves Key Construction Milestone with Tower Crane Installation

The transformative Burswood Point project in Perth has reached a significant new height in its development process, as the installation of a tower crane marks the transition to vertical construction. This milestone is now highly visible on the perimeter of Belmont Park Racecourse at Perth's eastern gateway, serving as a clear signal that one of the city's most anticipated waterfront residential developments is well underway.

A Tangible Vision Unfolding at Burswood Point

For many Perth residents, the crane represents the first tangible glimpse of the vision unfolding at Burswood Point – a 38-hectare riverfront precinct located just 3.5km from the Perth CBD. Somerset East and Somerset West are the first residential towers to be delivered at this site, being built by Western Australia-based Golden Sedayu Construction.

This team was established as the in-house construction arm of Golden Sedayu to address a shortage of builders in WA capable of delivering complex large-scale residential projects. Golden Sedayu Construction brings together local design, commercial, delivery, and onsite expertise, with a collective track record on landmark developments such as The Ritz-Carlton, Perth and The Towers at Elizabeth Quay.

Confidence in Progress and Capability

Golden Sedayu Managing Director Andrew Sugiaputra emphasized that the crane installation is a visible demonstration of both progress and capability. "By integrating development and construction under one roof, we are able to manage quality assurance, timelines, and delivery more effectively, providing purchasers with confidence at every stage of the journey," he said.

"We are now seeing years of planning, design, and collaboration coming together onsite, which reinforces our confidence in the strength, quality, and long-term vision for this unprecedented waterfront precinct."

As construction on the luxury residences progresses towards its anticipated completion in the December 2027 quarter, buyer confidence remains strong. Somerset at Burswood Point is now 60% sold and continues to attract sustained interest due to its riverfront location, premium design credentials by award-winning DKO Architecture, and the certainty offered by Golden Sedayu's vertically integrated delivery model.

Premium Residences with Uninterrupted Views

Somerset at Burswood Point comprises a curated collection of two and three-bedroom residences – with one-bedroom apartments already sold out – and penthouses. Each residence is positioned to maximise uninterrupted views across Swan River, Belmont Park Racecourse, Optus Stadium, and the Perth Hills.

Key features of the homes include:

  • Ceiling heights of up to 2.9m and extensive wraparound glazing to capture river or racecourse panoramas.
  • Generous open-plan living spaces that flow seamlessly onto expansive balconies designed for year-round entertaining.
  • Kitchens with island benches, walk-in sculleries, and premium Gaggenau appliances, complemented by engineered timber flooring, mineral stone benchtops, and designer tapware throughout.
  • Three interior palette options for buyers to personalise their homes, reflecting the architectural warmth and simplicity of the development.

Resort-Style Amenities and Community Focus

Residents will enjoy access to resort-style wellness amenities across both buildings, including:

  1. A 20m infinity pool and spa overlooking the river.
  2. A fully equipped gymnasium.
  3. A light-filled yoga studio designed for quiet focus and mindful movement.
  4. A traditional timber-lined sauna.
  5. Private dining and lounge facilities.
  6. Outdoor barbecue and observation areas with racecourse views.

Mr Sugiaputra highlighted the community benefits, stating, "In addition to its considered in-house amenities designed to foster a vibrant, connected, and sustainable community, Somerset delivers high-quality homes in a location which feels uniquely tranquil, yet remains seamlessly connected to the energy of Optus Stadium, Crown Perth, Victoria Park's dining scene, and the Perth CBD."

Attracting Diverse Buyers and Infrastructure Investments

The residences are attracting owner-occupiers and downsizers transitioning from larger homes, who seek a lock-up-and-leave riverside lifestyle without compromising on quality or amenity. They also appeal to investors recognising the scarcity of premium, well-located apartment stock close to the Perth CBD.

Beyond the residential offering, Golden Sedayu has already delivered more than $30 million in critical infrastructure works – jointly funded with the State Government – to ensure the Burswood Point community is well connected from day one. These upgrades include:

  • A new pedestrian bridge over Graham Farmer Freeway to Perth Stadium train station, Optus Stadium, and Burswood Park.
  • Enhanced cycling and walking paths.
  • A short-span bridge linking Burswood Point to Victoria Park Drive.

Burswood Point offers a waterfront community combining a peaceful parkland setting with effortless access to Perth's employment, education, and lifestyle hubs – a balance increasingly difficult to find as the city grows. Once complete, Somerset at Burswood Point will set the benchmark for future stages through design excellence and a strong focus on long-term liveability at this landmark community.

Two-bedroom apartments start from $1.375 million, with three-bedroom residences starting from $2.2 million. Somerset at Burswood Point is anticipated to reach completion in the December 2027 quarter, forming part of a curated collection of homes and apartments nestled along the banks of Swan River on the Belmont Park Racecourse site.
