Police hunt man over $195k Audi 'ghost payment' near Berry

Police on the New South Wales South Coast are appealing for public assistance to locate a man involved in a high-value vehicle transaction that turned sour, leaving a seller out of pocket by nearly $200,000.

The Disappearing Payment

The incident centres on the sale of a grey 2021 Audi RS6, a high-performance luxury vehicle. In May 2025, the car was listed for sale online by an individual based in Far Meadow, near Berry. A sale was agreed upon shortly after, with an unknown man purchasing the vehicle for $195,000.

According to information provided to police, the man took possession of the Audi. However, in a significant twist, the substantial financial transaction was subsequently reversed, effectively cancelling the payment after the car had changed hands.

Man Sought for Questioning

Nowra Police have now released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries into the incident. He is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, approximately 180cm tall, with a muscular build, short black hair, and a full black beard.
