Western Australia has experienced its most fortunate year of lottery wins in nearly a decade, with the suburbs of Mandurah and Stirling emerging as the state's undisputed luckiest locations.
A Record-Breaking Year for WA Winners
The year 2025 proved to be a golden period for Lotto players across Western Australia. According to official figures from Lotterywest, the state recorded its highest number of Division One wins since 2016. In an extraordinary run of luck, more than 88 local winners shared in a colossal prize pool exceeding $250 million.
The standout performers were the City of Stirling and the City of Mandurah, which each produced an impressive six Division One winners. This tied them for the title of WA's luckiest locality. The northern suburbs narrowly claimed bragging rights over the south, with 27 major winners compared to 22.
Major Wins and Community Benefits
Among the year's highlights was a life-changing moment for a Mandurah couple, who scooped a massive $50 million Powerball jackpot. This win stands as the state's largest single Lotto prize since 2022. The Peel region's luck didn't stop there; a woman in her 60s also secured a $20 million Powerball win in September.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender noted that Joondalup finished a close third with five major wins, followed by Wanneroo, Swan, and Gosnells with four each. She also highlighted the widespread joy, with winners celebrating from Derby in the north to Albany in the south.
"Players have celebrated wins with everything from indulging in a T-bone steak to fancy haircuts for their dog, as well as holidays, caravan trips and new gaming consoles," Ms Wender said.
How to Win and Giving Back
Lotterywest also revealed the ticket types that led to the most success. The Slikpik 50 ticket was the most fruitful, creating 12 Division One winners. It was followed by the Slikpik 18 (9 winners), Slikpik 30 (7 winners), and Slikpik 12 (5 winners).
The benefits of the state's lottery extended far beyond individual winners. Community organisations were also major beneficiaries in 2025. More than $365 million was raised for the Lotterywest grants program. This staggering sum is equivalent to over $1 million being returned to WA community groups every single day of the year.
This funding supported 395 different groups across the state. Grants ranged from $80,000 for Mission Australia's Christmas Lunch In The Park to a substantial $10.8 million for Screenwest.
With the Saturday Lotto jackpot for January 3 already sitting at $30 million, WA players have the chance to start 2026 with another spectacular bang.
