Man Charged After $50K Goods Stolen from Delivery Truck

A man has been arrested and charged following the theft of a delivery truck carrying $50,000 worth of goods in Perth. The incident occurred in early May when the white Isuzu truck was snatched from outside a home on Barbette Road in Willetton while a worker was making a delivery.

Truck Found Abandoned, Cargo Missing

The vehicle was discovered abandoned on Brand Road in High Wycombe late on May 6, approximately 20 kilometres from where it was stolen. However, its cargo of white goods and electronics had been removed. The theft gained public attention after police released vision of a fridge falling from the back of the truck onto a suburban street.

Arrest After Foot Chase

With help from the community, police identified a person of interest. On Friday, officers arrested the suspect following a foot chase in Riverton. A 42-year-old man from Willetton has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, stealing, no authority to drive, and three counts of possessing a prohibited drug. He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on June 10.

Further Charges

During a search of an address in Forrestfield, authorities seized some of the allegedly stolen property. A 43-year-old man was charged with one count of receiving. Additionally, a 56-year-old man from High Wycombe and a 17-year-old girl have been charged with drug-related offences.

Police continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
