Firefighters stormed a burning building in Perth on Tuesday afternoon after initial concerns that somebody could be trapped inside. Emergency services were first alerted to the blaze on Parry Street, near the intersection of Pier Street, by a concerned driver who noticed smoke billowing from the roof of a property around 4:20 pm.
Blaze Engulfs Property
The fire completely engulfed the property by the time firefighters arrived, but crews managed to bring it mostly under control by 4:30 pm. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) spokeswoman confirmed that a thorough search of the building ruled out any possibility of someone being trapped inside.
Emergency Response
St John WA paramedics were dispatched to the scene as a precaution but were not required to treat any individuals. Police also attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
